Technical characteristies

SIERRAGRES® floors belong to group AIIa-1, under the classification indicated in the standard UNE EN 14411:2006.
These tiles are vertically extruded using the Spaltplatten method (double tiles) that have been fired in a tunnel oven for approx. 24 hours, which awards them certain technical characteristics that are comparable only to porcelain, for their Hardness, Bend Resistance, Frost Resistance, etc…

  1. water absorption
SIERRAGRES manufactures Group AIIa-1 flooring, i.e. with a level of water absorption between 3% and 6%. Although daily tests carried out in our laboratory show the average level of water absorption to be below 2.4%.
  2. bend resistance
The value required by the standard for Group AIIa-1 gives a minimum bend resistance value of 20 N/mm2. SIERRAGRES is way above these values; in the daily tests carried out in our laboratory, over 75% are above 40 N/mm2 with peaks above 60 N/mm2 (higher than most porcelain tiles). This is what makes them so hard and resistant to cutting.
  3. resistance to surface abrasion
The enamelled tiles manufactured by SIERRAGRES are all made using the same enamels (frits), and only the colours and their application methods change, so the quality and hardness of their enamels are all similar. Tests to determine the surface abrasion use a method to observe scratching that involves the effect of a light shining on the item in question. This method penalises the darkest items compared with the lighter colours.
For its lighter colours, SIERRAGRES offers a PEI of V Type, and depending on how dark the colour gets, the worst value reached would be PEI of II Type.
  4. frost resistance
Apart from complying with standard UNE EN ISO 10545-12, SIERRAGRES also carries out another personalised test that is much more aggressive than the testing required in the previously mentioned standard, as well as complying with all the tests carried out since the year 2002. All tests are carried out at its Laboratory that has been certified by ENAC (the Spanish Accreditation Body) / AITEMIN (Spanish Association for Research and Industrial Development of Natural Resources).
  5. slip resistance
Since the Spanish Technical Building Code (CTE) came into effect, and in order to limit the risk of slipping, section SU 1 of that code lays out a classification according to the use that the flooring is going to have. For this classification, the parts are tested to obtain values (RD) that will give us the class of Slip Resistance that will apply to our material, so the following values are indicated:

    Rd < 15 is Clase 0 (C0)
    15 < Rd < 35 is Clase 1 (C1)
    35 < Rd < 45 is Clase 2 (C2)
    Rd > 45 is Clase 3 (C3)

For its lighter colours, SIERRAGRES offers a PEI of V Type, and depending on how dark the colour gets, the worst value reached would be PEI of II Type.

  1. product quality
Our material meets the European standard UNE EN ISO 10545 and the ASTM from the USA.
Our management system, as regards quality and the environment, is certified by the ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 European standards.

    * The products identified as “Commercial” do not meet all the requirements of the aforementioned standard, and may show certain quality or visual defects.
  2. testing
SIERRAGRES tests its products in officially certified laboratories, as well as those tests that are carried out in its own laboratory, as part of our quality control system.

    conventional m2/ml

Our products are not supplied to the whole m2 or ml; they calculate the use of a conventional application joint. Consequently, no claims shall be accepted regarding the number of parts supplied.
  3. responsibility for the product’s characteristics
If the supplied material does not meet the quality required, the client is entitled to demand the defect be removed or for a new material to be supplied without any defects. Merely visual defects that do not affect the capacity to fulfil the envisaged use only authorise the client to claim a price reduction.

In the event of variations in the shade, we accept no responsibility should the material be put in place.

We accept no responsibility for mistakes in planning or an unsuitable application or placing, or for any damages caused by irregular cleaning or using unsuitable products.

We are only responsible for the products that have been supplied asfirst class quality. We do not accept any responsibility in the case of commercial classes, particularly in the case of insufficient properties as regards resistance to frost or acids, abrasion, enamel defects, etc. as this material is expressly prone to showing these kinds of defects. We do not accept any responsibility for products that have undergone subsequent treatment.
